King Edward's Witley is an independent co-educational boarding and day school, founded in 1553 by King Edward VI and Nicholas Ridley. The School is located in the village of Wormley (near Witley), Surrey, England, having moved to its present location in 1867.[1] The School became fully co-educational in 1952.
As of September 2010, the school has joined the small number of independent schools in the UK which offer the IB Diploma Programme in place of A-levels in the sixth form. The school re-introduced A-levels as part of the curriculum from September 2015.
The School was founded as Bridewell Royal Hospital, after Nicholas Ridley preached to Edward VI to give some of his empty palaces over to the City of London (governed by the City of London Corporation) to house homeless women and children. By 1850 the School had its own gasworks.
The School was commandeered by the Royal Navy during the Second World War to test and develop the use of radar. The School still remembers this with a plaque in the central area, a junction of corridors known as 'Piccadilly'.
Guilford is a small but lively town with its own character, with its impressive castle and cathedral to visit as well as its cobbled streets with its shops, restaurants and cafes!
Surrey is only 30 minutes by train from the city of London! It is a green area, as it is surrounded by the Surrey Hills, therefore offering every visitor the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful view and admire beautiful gardens and waterways! As the city also has a train station, Surrey is ideal for visits to both London and nearby areas such as seaside Brighton!
Single, Twin and Quadruple rooms with shared bathroom are offered within King's Edwards boarding school. The rooms have a desk with chair and wardrobe with storage space for the students’ personal belongings. Towels and bed linen are provided.
The accommodation buildings are in a safe and secure countryside location.Pin code access to boarding houses.
Meal plan: The programme offers three meals daily (breakfast, lunch and dinner) at the University restaurant. It’s self-service.
Since the program has many football sessions and workshops, evening activities are connected to that. Movie nights, Summer Olympics and Football quizes are some of them.
